Should Sami get a sibling? ❤️🐾

Is life really better with two Westies? This is a question that I keep asking myself every now and then. And if you have a Westie who's an only child, I bet you've thought about this too.

Would Sami be happier with a brother or a sister?

Would they play together, keep each other company when I’m not there, get along great and take care of each other? Or would it just be… chaos?

I've seen Sami with other Westies. We went on Westie vacations, took walks together, I've watched him interact with dogs that are basically “his people”. And there's something about two Westies together that's just... different. They get each other in a way that's hard to explain. And every single time, I walk away thinking yes, he needs this, we should get a second one.

Then the next day I start to think about the added cost of feeding and grooming two Westies. The medical issues that inevitably come with being a dog parent. The time and energy it takes to take care of what could be described as a second child - because yes, we see Sami as our child ❤️

The reality is that, like just people, each dog comes with their own specific health needs (and Sami's already got a full house when it comes to allergies and medical needs). He also loves his spot on the couch and isn’t a fan of sharing his toys. Or my attention. He loves his quiet time and he is not always in the mood for company.

Would he share his spotlight? Would he be excited to not be alone, or would he just quietly retire into a corner and give me THAT look? The one that says “save meee”!

I honestly don't know what he'd choose. But I made a whole video about it. Talking about it on camera is helping me process it, and I hope that the everyone reading this and watching the video can leave a comment so we can process it together.
