☀️ Sami living his best life + I made a new video!
The sun is back and Sami smells like a rotisserie chicken

If you've been following along for a while, you know that Sami is an indoor dog. He’s a homebody. He loves chilling with us on the couch, watching TV (yes! he is hooked on anything we watch) and he never asks to go for a walk (in fact, he runs whenever he sees his harness because he hates having to put it on).
But even so, these past weeks here in Portugal have been not easy on him.
Rain. So much rain. Day after day of Sami standing at the door, looking outside, then looking back at me like I personally caused this. “Make it stop mom!”. Seeing him bored at home every day because our walks lately have been short and very windy and wet.
But this week? The sun finally came back!

Sami enjoying his day in the sun at dog school! ☀️
It’s been a joy to watch Sami sit on the balcony in the fresh air, enjoying the sunshine and coming back in smelling like a rotisserie chicken 😂 It’s been so fun taking him out on long walks again, seeing him roll around in the wet grass, going on long sniffing adventures at the park.
I even took him at dog school this week, for the first time this year, just so he could spend the day in the sun and socialize with other doggos. I haven't seen him so happy in a while and it reminded me why I love this little dog so much. ❤️
It also got me thinking about something I get asked a lot: are Westies actually good dogs?
And look, I'm biased. Obviously. I don’t think I will ever want another breed of dog. But I also know that Westies aren't for everyone. They're stubborn. They bark at things that don't exist. They will absolutely try to run your household if you let them.
But they're also loyal, hilarious, surprisingly tough for their size, and genuinely the best adventure companions.
Sami has been to 14 countries with me so far, he’s been on plane rides across the Atlantic, sailing boats and road trips all across Europe. AND he’s the best when it comes to chilling on the couch with me when I’m watching Bridgerton. He is down for any kind of lifestyle we bring his way.
So I made a whole video breaking down the real pros and cons of having a Westie pup. The good stuff (they're smart, loving, barely shed) and the not-so-easy stuff (allergies, prey drive, the famous Westietude).
Whether you already have a Westie and want to feel seen, or you're thinking about getting one and you want to know what the heck you're signing up for… I think you'll LOVE this one.
Let me know if you agree with this video! (I have a feeling that when I mention the barking, a lot of you will relate) 😂
Oh and Sami’s dad, Bobby, also has a lot to say. He just started writing a newsletter about being a dog parent ❤️ It's called… Daily Dog Parent. Short emails, 3 times a week. 🐾 The stuff he talks about? Things like how he wanted to wait TWO more years before we got Sami (!) and now can't leave a room without saying goodbye to him. True story. If you want to check it out: dailydogparent.com (it’s free and you can unsubscribe any time you want if it’s not your cup of tea).
Until next time,
Miruna & Sami 🐶 💕
P.S. If you know someone who also has a Westie, forward this to them! They'll love our weekly newsletters!
Forward this to a friend so they can sign up as well:
